P is for PIG
pig

Mrs. Ingram and Ms. Holly's kindergarten class at East Jones Elementary had a very special visitor today—a pet pig! One of our students and her mom brought their pig to share with us as we continue learning our alphabet letters and sounds. Experiences like this make our learning memorable and fun, and we loved seeing how our classroom connections can bring the alphabet to life! A special thanks to the Street family for bringing Hampton for us to see and pet!

Mrs. Walley’s 5th & 6th grade Star Reach classes have been learning about American symbols. Students learned the history & meaning behind the design of the flag, how to properly fold & care for the flag, & even practiced lowering and raising the flag on our flagpole in the front of the school.

Southern Pine Electric and Dixie Electric recently teamed up to conduct an electric safety demonstration for the 6th grade Star Reach students in Ms. Walley and Mrs. McGee’s classes. The students learned about the dangers of electricity as well as what happens to the path of electricity once it's broken.

3rd Grade Pumpkin Pals
3rd grade

Our 2nd grade students at EJE turned reading into a creative family project this fall! Each student selected a book to read at home with their family and decorated a pumpkin to look like a main character from their story. Their project submissions had everyone thinking, “What a gourd-geous display of learning! Our 2nd graders are FALLing in love with reading.” Our hall was filled with colorful, imaginative Pumpkin Pals that brought beloved storybook characters to life.

Two students were honored with awards for their contributions to our fall literacy project:

Kyleigh Bates in Mrs. Sharon Doggett’s class (Teachers’ Choice Award)

Jace Rainey in Mrs. Emmy Parker’s class (Honorable Mention)

This fun literacy project encouraged family involvement, creativity, and a love for reading. We’re so proud of our 2nd grade scholars for their hard work and dedication to our fall literacy initiative!
